Mosquito Coils and Mosquito Nets

I am very afraid of mosquitoes, so every summer, I am very careful not to let mosquitoes into my home, but mosquitoes don’t listen to you, so they need to be eliminated.

There are several different methods to eliminate mosquitoes, such as using mosquito coils, electric mosquito repellents, and using mosquito nets.

I am a bit picky (as my parents say). I don’t like any kind of odor (not only in the air, but also in food).

So for ordinary mosquito coils, if I light them, it practically means that I won’t be able to sleep.

With electric mosquito repellents, I can fall asleep, but I am resistant to them. Even though I know that electric mosquito repellents contain a small amount of toxins, the harm caused by the food I eat outside is much greater than this.

But still, I resist.

As for mosquito nets, although they limit my sleeping space and create a virtual boundary, I find myself more accepting of them compared to electric mosquito repellents.

Here comes the problem. Mosquito nets require a lot of preparation to work effectively, such as setting up poles on the bed or installing four hooks on the ceiling and securing the mosquito net.

If you are someone who likes to roll on the bed or who cannot stay still while sleeping, you need to be careful not to pull the mosquito net off the hooks or not to tear the corners of the mosquito net while tossing around in bed.

Especially, when you go to a new place, the convenience of buying electric mosquito repellents is incomparable to buying and installing mosquito nets (some places may not even have the option of installing them).

This brings up a question: should I choose electric mosquito repellents or mosquito nets?

When I lived in Chaoyang District before, I used mosquito nets because my bed was a regular one. But after moving to Shunyi, the living arrangement is more like tatami, so if I were to use mosquito nets, there would be more considerations. However, there are still mosquitoes, so I can only choose electric mosquito repellents.

I often feel that electric mosquito repellents are harming me, even though there are no mosquitoes now.

Sometimes, your choice is not entirely your choice, but the choice of the environment.
